Here’s a Canadian propaganda poster from WWII that I borrowed to reflect my sentiments about mainstream America’s favorite pastime:

Again, I used Gimp, but I seem to be getting the hang of it.  It took only a few minutes!

I love the sentiment here, you nail it. If I were you I would play a bit with matching the fonts. You can take the font from the original (I would crop to just a word or two) and run it through What the Font here: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

It will give you an approximation of the font which you can then download and drop in your Library/Fonts folder. After that you can try and match the font, which for me in design is essential to get the effect you are looking for. Also, try and match the colors :)

I will def check out What the Font. It IS annoying having to scroll through al the various fonts on GIMP and pick the closest one. I was actually TRYING to match the color and font in the original poster http://www.spaciousplanet.com/world/photo/10225/canadian-war-poster.html (a blue courier-type font) and even used the “color-picker” (which I am an old hand at now) to do it. But I agree, the current font is too modern as is and doesn’t “go” with the aesthetic of the rest of the poster. I think that if I did redo it, I’d probably take out the asterisk-ed phrase, too. There are too many words here. A subtle message is always better.

    Thanks, Jim.
